30. Stop being ungrateful. – No matter how good or bad you have it, wake up each day thankful for your life. Someone somewhere else is desperately fighting for theirs. Instead of thinking about what you’re missing, try thinking about what you have that everyone else is missing.
I started a practice a few weeks ago of waking up every morning and writing down 10 things I’m thankful for in my life. Then, I end the day by thinking of the thing that made me most happy during the day. By doing this, I start and end the day feeling grateful and happy for what I have instead of thinking and worrying about all the things I don’t. This little change has already brought about some happy results.
We all have so much to be grateful for and these things don’t have to be big life-affecting things either. They can be the little things that make you smile throughout the day. I am grateful for my friends and my family because of the amazing support the give me on a continual basis, but I am also grateful for Ryan Gosling’s abs because they are a thing of wonder. I am grateful for the air we breathe and I’m also grateful for movie blooper reels. This doesn’t have to be such a serious practice. You should leave it feeling great! Stop taking everything so seriously and love the crazy, amazing life you have. Start right now.
What’s making me smile right now:
