After a week of laying by the most beautiful expanse of sea I’ve seen in a long time, I came to a conclusion: I believe we are all exactly where we want to be in life because we’ve chosen to be there. As much as we say we want something else with our lives, we must admit that doing things outside of what we know as ‘the norm’, is uncomfortable. So, we end up staying right where we are because that’s where we are most comfortable. Yes, living on the beach sounds like an amazing dream but getting there is uncomfortable and most people really don’t like to get uncomfortable.
I think the quote, “Everything you’ve ever wanted is right outside your comfort zone” is one of the truest quotes I’ve heard. Think about it… If you want to meet your soul mate, you’re going to have to get uncomfortable and put yourself out there to meet someone, taking the risk of getting hurt in the process. If you want to make more money than you’re making right now, you’re going to have to look for a different job in which you may or may not like, or market some product you have, which is uncomfortable… Not many people enjoy ‘selling’. If you want to get the life you’ve always dreamed about, you’re going to have to try something new, take some risks, and get uncomfortable.
I’ve come to the conclusion that even though I talk about doing these things, even I’ve succumbed to my own fears. I’m not living the life I truly want to live right now. Moving to a beach sounds amazing and nothing is keeping me here in Minnesota… Except the fear that sneaks into my head. You will never find a truly successful person who hasn’t taken some risks in life. And if you don’t want to take risks and don’t want to get uncomfortable, then I’m sorry to say, it’s time you accepted your life for what it is and just start enjoying it. Stop ‘wishing’ and ‘hoping’ and instead go out on a limb and make something happen! I know it’s time I did.
What’s making me smile right now:
